Cooperative City Terminal

THE NETHERLANDS

On a historic location, that was ones the beginning of Rotterdam as the biggest port in Europe, you can find the Cooperative City Terminal. The Cooperative City Terminal is a collaboration of different  terminal operators located at this important location in the Port of Rotterdam.

Excellent accessibility is of vital importance to the City Terminal. CERTUS Automation supplied the site with a multi-user AutoGate solution to enable gate operations with centralized inspection, centralized custom authorities and centralized security validations. The project includes a centralized cloud hosted Gate Operating System that connect to multiple site specific GOS’ and TOS’, with various Gate Kiosks, Gate LED Panels, Gate OCR and Gate Control Equipment.

At the central entrance, the truck driver is identified by means of an electronic ID, the driver select its destination and either identify its mission through a unique pre-advised ‘TAR code’ or enter and proceed towards the central administration desk. After the truck mission is identified, the truck enters the central inspection area, where, with the support of OCR, the truck is being inspected. Unique about this process is, is that these process points in the AutoGate solution are used by multiple terminal operators, not just a single operator.

After the central Gate, CERTUS is also the AutoGate solution supplier for the different operators, like Kramer City Depot, Rotterdam Shortsea Terminals, Rail Service Center Rotterdam and Matrans.

This automated entrance to the City Terminal can process over 3000 trucks per day and receive over 450 trucks per hour. The Gate Operating System by CERTUS ensures that every truck visit runs smoothly and that every operator, including central security and central customs, have access to the data they need.

Rotterdam’s City Terminal is the port’s second large-scale container location, accommodating a range of logistics parties that include SCA (breakbulk), Rotterdam Shortsea Terminals (RST – containers), Rail Service Centre Rottermdam (RSC – rail terminal), Kramer Group (container repairs and storage) and Matrans (container services).
