CERTUS Automation and Salerno Container Terminal Collaborate on Gate Optimization
Shortly before TOC Europe in Hamburg, CERTUS Automation and Salerno Container Terminal finalized an agreement to implement a smart gate and truck handling solution at the terminal. This timing created a valuable opportunity for both teams to meet in person during the exhibition and celebrate the start of their partnership together.
Salerno Container Terminal operates with high container rotation and intensive yard utilization, handling significant volumes in relation to its available terminal footprint. In this context, efficient traffic coordination, gate automation and smooth truck handling are key enablers of service quality, operational continuity and further growth.
To support these objectives, CERTUS Automation will deliver an integrated solution designed to optimize truck movements, improve gate efficiency, and enhance the experience for both drivers and terminal operators. The implementation includes an AutoGate, a Vehicle Booking System, and the Gate Mate driver app.
This partnership highlights the growing demand for smart automation solutions in high-density terminals environments, where traffic flow optimization, operational predictability and digital coordination are critical.

The official launch of the Gate Mate Driver App at TOC Europe marks an important step in CERTUS Automation’s strategy to further digitalize the interaction between terminals and truck drivers. This contributes to shorter turnaround times, improved terminal accessibility, and a more connected gate ecosystem.
The app enables secure driver authentication and instant gate check in. It also supports appointment
management, access to electronic documents, and clear driver instructions. By guiding drivers step by step through every stage of their terminal visit, the app ensures a smooth, predictable, and paperless process from pre arrival to post exit.
By placing the driver at the center of the process, Gate Mate plays a key role in reducing waiting times, minimizing uncertainty, and improving overall traffic flow in and around the terminal.
